Concours en collaboration avec Ghali / Tian
Programme : Beer garden
Location : Bologne / Italy
Date : 2017
Located on the axis linking Bologna and Ferrara, the Villa Zarri building not only appears as a strong architectural element to connect fragmented territories, but is also one of the main accesses to the city. In a changing context, the challenge is to reveal the building in order to better integrate it into its environment while assuming the role of a landmark.
First, we choose to remove the structure of the roof for a vertical expansion purpose. The roof elements will take on life in the garden in the form of pavilions of different capacities and heights, offering collective experiences for the larger ones and more intimate experiences for the more distant pavilions in the garden. In the second stage, taking into account the different types of flows of people proved essential in the implementation of the intervention strategy. This is to maximize the human experience within the Experiential Beer Garden.
The creation of the platform comes on the experience of the journey and aims to connect different temporal hooks. It will be possible to discover the exhibitions and enrich its tasting experience through the look (physically, subjectively and gradually) on production Ateliers and the pipelines carrying different beers. This pathway will represent an educational visualization experience as to the process of creation.
Finally, in order to make the building a strong architectural element and a signal within the landscape, it is to cover it with a light semi-transparent envelope metaphoric to the formation of the foam on the beer. The EBG thus becomes a new door of the city resolutely turned towards the future, and a living building, by day and by night.
